Riverview Health Foundation Awards Students with the Dr. and Mrs. Malcom Bray Medical Scholarship and Hamilton County Medical Society Scholarship

July 26, 2022

Riverview Health Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded the Dr. and Mrs. Malcom Bray Medical Scholarship and Hamilton County Medical Society Scholarship to seven deserving Hamilton County students.

The students from the 2021-2022 school year who have received the scholarship include: Emma Bui, Hamilton Southeastern High School, Erin Hanna, Fishers High School, Breanna Hunter, Sheridan High School, Allison Maskew, Noblesville High School, Arya Musthyala, Carmel High School (not pictured), Hannah Pensyl, Westfield High School, and Eli VanHaaren, Hamilton Heights High School.

“We continue to be impressed with the students selected by each of the public high schools in Hamilton County. Hearing their accomplishments and future plans provides a terrific look into how they will impact their communities,” said Megan Wiles, executive director of Riverview Health Foundation. “The philosophy of Dr. Malcom Bray and Mary Bray was to share the blessings they had received in life by giving back to the community. It’s an honor to carry on their legacy and support those that will hopefully also serve their communities one day through their medical careers. This year we were fortunate to add an additional award from the Hamilton County Medical Society Scholarship Fund in conjunction with the Dr. and Mrs. Malcom Bray Scholarships.”

The Dr. and Mrs. Malcolm Bray Medical Scholarship was established in 1993 through Riverview Health Foundation and is awarded to a graduating senior from each of the public high schools in Hamilton County wishing to pursue a career in the medical field. Each recipient is awarded a onetime $1,000 scholarship. More than 180 scholarships have been awarded to students since its inception.

The Bray’s support of Riverview Health runs deep. Dr. Bray was a scientist at Eli Lilly and Co. and a member of Riverview Health Foundation Board of Directors for 18 years. Mary Bray volunteered at Riverview Health for more than 40 years and her great-grandfather was instrumental in relocating Riverview Health to its current location.

The Hamilton County Medical Society Scholarship was created at the end of 2021 in partnership with Riverview Health Foundation with the goal to help local students pursue a medical career. This is the first year for this scholarship to be presented, and because the Bray Scholarship and the Hamilton County Medical Society Scholarship share the same goal, both scholarships were given to the seven students that were selected for the Bray Scholarship. Each student received an additional $500.
