Riverview Health Offers New Transportation Service to Patients

Riverview Health has partnered with Janus Developmental Services, operator of Hamilton County Express Public Transit (HCE), to offer a new transportation program serving patients of Riverview Health. Effective September 15, 2015, patients with appointments at any of the 29 Riverview Health locations are able to use the Riverview Health transportation service as an alternative to driving.

“For many community members, the lack of transportation can be a major barrier in accessing the healthcare they need,” said Pat Fox, President and CEO of Riverview Health. “By partnering with Janus Developmental Services and offering transportation services, we’re able to assist those facing this situation and continue to improve the health of our community.”

Hamilton County Express, an origin-to-destination public transportation service, has been serving the Hamilton County community since 2007, and has increased ridership each year. In 2014, the bus service provided 48,640 transportation trips throughout Hamilton County. More than 2,000 of those trips were to or from Riverview Health locations.

“We’re very excited to operate this dedicated service for Riverview Health,” said Christina Sorensen, President and CEO of Janus. “Patients will experience the same safe, friendly and convenient service they’re accustomed to if they have used Hamilton County Express. We’re pleased to be involved in the expansion of access to non-emergency medical care for Hamilton County residents who don’t drive.”

The Riverview Health transportation service operates Monday through Friday between 7 am and 5 pm and Saturday from 7 am to 1 pm. One-way and round-trip rides are $5 in exact change. A $55 monthly pass is also available.
