New Neuropsychology Physician Specializing in Dementia Joins Riverview Health

Riverview Health is pleased to welcome Valencia Montgomery, PsyD, to Riverview Health Physicians Neuropsychology.

Dr. Valenica Montgomery specializes in geriatric psychology and dementia evaluation and takes pride in considering each patient in their own context as she strives to bring the science and practice of neuropsychology together. She enjoys building relationships in the community and participating in educational talks regarding preventative medicine. 

“I have always had an interest in brain function and nutrition and enjoyed working with older adults,” said Dr. Montgomery. “I became particularly interested in the research being done on nutrition and Alzheimer's disease. This led me to my research interest in dementia, and that is how I ultimately chose to practice neuropsychology. You can’t separate the brain from the functions of the body and expect to really understand the problem at hand.”

Dr. Montgomery is fellowship-trained and received her doctorate at Roosevelt University. She was born in Chicago, IL and completed most of her training as a neuropsychologist in the Midwest. She considers herself a dog lover, and on warm days she can often be found walking with her goldendoodle and bernedoodle.
