Riverview Health Foundation announced that it gave Riverview Health more than $500,000 in 2021.
“We’re so grateful for the generosity of many individuals, families and businesses in our community who support us and help Riverview Health continually improve its services,” said Megan Wiles, Riverview Health Foundation executive director. “Every bit helps when it comes to the ever-changing healthcare environment and meeting the needs of our patients.”
All funds given to Riverview Health will support the Courtney Cox Cole Infusion Center, upcoming capital projects, training programs for staff and Women of Vision Giving Club grants that support women and children services. As one of the Women of Vision Giving Club grant recipients, the Riverview Health maternity department was able to purchase obstetric training equipment from Gaumard—an industry leader in simulation-based healthcare workforce training solutions. Training takes place on a quarterly basis for physicians, nurses and certified surgical technologists. This is done by using an automated, high-tech, lifelike patient manikin that mimics a woman going through labor and delivery.
“With this new equipment, we’re so excited to offer maternal simulation training to our team,” said Michelle Allen, director of Maternal and Child Services. “This training will better prepare staff for emergencies that take place during labor and delivery as well as reinforce all the teamwork and skills needed to make childbirth as safe as possible.”
Thanks to the generosity of its donors, Riverview Health Foundation is also able to lift spirits and provide financial support to Riverview Health employees. The Foundation helped employees who were impacted financially by the pandemic through the COVID Support Fund. During the holidays, 600 randomly selected employees received a monetary gift. The Foundation continues to lead efforts to boost morale of Riverview Health employees through the Operation Cheer program, which provides treats and goodies on a regular basis.
